Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are a common and natural component of the microscopic plants (plankton) in Lakes. Some types of blue-green algae produce natural toxins or poisons. FORTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL MEETING

LAKE MADISON DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

Call to Order

President Steve Snyder called the meeting to order at 12:00 P.M.  He welcomed the members of the Lake Madison Development Association (LMDA) to the Forty-eighth Annual Meeting.  The meeting was held at the Hillside Resort, August 6, 2006.

Secretary’s Report

There was a motion by Robert Todd to approve the minutes of the 2005 Annual Meeting.  Gene Larson seconded.  Motion carried.  

Treasurer’s Report  

Millie Moser gave the Treasurer’s report for the year 2005-2006.  Income for the year included:  membership dues, contributions to the water quality project, advertising sold in lake news and watershed rebate.  Expenses for the year were printing of directories, The Lake News, membership letters and flyers, annual picnic, and secretary’s and office expenses.  Director Pete Hoidal moved to approve report as given, Director Linda Hilde seconded.  Motion carried.  

Committee Reports  

Shon Eide, Game Fish & Parks, reported that a marine band radio was donated to them by the Lake Madison Development Association.  If he is on the lake he may be reached at Channel 16.  He reiterated that it is still best to call 911 in case of emergency.  He stated that jet skis are still the biggest safety problems on the lake.  He asked that if people loan their jet skis to people to teach them the rules and regulations before they are allowed to ride.  He reminded that the skis are to stay 150’ away from docks and other boaters.  Game Warden Eide also reminded people to make sure to have boat lights on at night.

 Robert Todd reported for the Long Range Water Quality Planning Committee.  He thanked Committee members.  Robert stated that phosphorous is the main key in water quality.  The Committee will be working with Lake Herman, Lake Madison, Round Lake and Lake Brant. 

 Linda Hilde reported for the siren committee.  The Committee will work with County Commissioners on working out the details of placing, owning and maintaining the sirens.  When more information is collected there will be a special meeting of the Board of Directors to decide whether to pursue the sirens any further.

 Terry Ryan reported for the Safety Committee.  He asked to ensure our family members and guests respect speed limits.

 Donation to Search & Rescue

 Motion by Director Landeen to donate the usual $500 to Search and Rescue.  Director Hunter seconded.  Motion carried. 

Election  

President Steve Snyder reported for the nominating committee.  He offered the following names for officers and directors for the Association for 2006-2007:  President Ralph Wagoner; First VP Curt Nelson; Second VP Terry Ryan; Secretary Michelle Anderson; Treasurer Gene & Millie Moser.  Directors to be re-elected for three-year terms include:  James Hunter, Harold Hanson, Martin Jarrett, Dieter Proehl, Mike Wiess and Mike Hagedorn.  New directors to be elected to serve three-year terms include: Robert Todd, Jeff Willadson, Nancy Lammers and Karen Dossett.  Motion carried.

 Director Ellsworth moved that nominations cease for officers and directors nominated and the Secretary cast a unanimous ballot.  Director Jeff Nelson seconded.  Motion carried.

 Outgoing President Steve Snyder thanked Treasurers Gene & Millie Moser, Secretary Michelle Anderson, and all of the Directors and Committee members for everything they do.  He thanked the Hillside for their wonderful hospitality, food and the work they do to make the Association picnic such a great success.  He also thanked Coke for the contribution of the soda for the picnic and Carlson Distributing for the contribution of some of the beer.  He also reminded people to look up the Lake Madison Development Association WEB site – www.lakemadison.info

 Incoming president, Ralph Wagoner, thanked outgoing President Steve Snyder for all of the work he has done for the Association.

 Adjournment

 Director Graham moved adjournment, as there was no further business.  Director Landeen seconded.  Motion carried.
